Application requirements

This page contains all the information students need to apply for a BAYERBoost scholarship.

Please read through the guidelines carefully before you start the application process.

Interested students should identify and make contact with an organisation which could host them for the stated period and establish a project for their scholarship. The project need not be a separate, discrete piece of work; students may simply join a team already working on a particular research or restoration project.

Click here for a list of possible host organisations. This list is neither exhaustive nor exclusive, and students may well find other organisations which would be acceptable as hosts and come up with their own ideas for projects.

The Project Proposal is a key part of your scholarship application. The Project Proposal criteria can be downloaded in pdf format (see below).

Please note that your completed application form must be accompanied by:

A three-page Project Proposal following the criteria outlined, with emphasis towards quality rather than quantity

A letter of approval from parents/caregivers for students under the age of 18

A certified copy of current academic record or NCEA Record of Achievement

A certified copy of: Birth Certificate, New Zealand Citizenship Certificate, Passport, Naturalisation Certificate, or permanent Humanitarian Visa.

Two academic references are also required and must be sent directly to the Royal Society by the referees. A reference form can be downloaded in Word format (see below). Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their referees send their completed reference forms by the closing date for applications

Application forms can be completed electronically but they must be sent with the requested documentation. The entire application must be received by 5.00pm  30 September 2010 by the Royal Society of New Zealand, PO Box 598, Wellington.

If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Debbie Woodhall at the Royal Society on 04 472 7421 or email: BAYERBoost@rsnz.org
